NEW CHARACTER ART CHALLENGE!
Greetings, bronies!
This is GJ301.
So just about a few weeks ago, the sixth season of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic wrapped up, and looking back, it was one heck of a ride. It’s hard to believe that even at this point, both the series and the fandom are still going strong! But what’s even more fascinating is the slew of new characters the recent season brought us! Whether it was a cynical earth pony, an excitable griffon, or a strong-willed dragon, season six had quite a colorful cast. But as someone who cares so much about art, I’ve wanted to see so many different interpretations of these newbies. That’s why I’m here to bring you an exciting competition called the New Character Art Challenge! Artists will be tasked with drawing a portrait of any new character from season six of your choosing. Based on how many submissions we r

Feel free to leave a critique! Remember, on the art, not the character! ^^

Thanks guys.

My first Critique on here in a long time but I just have to do one that is an image of my wonderful OC. So without any further delay;

I tend to stick to a simple four point critique and if some point offends you I'm sorry this is completely my opinion and is worthless if you wish it to be.

Vision: Now I understand this was the commission of a shared friend but if my memory is not mistaken the task was only to mix the OCs of the five of us reviewers. The artist then expanded on it and created a wonderful collage of character. 4.5 stars

Originality: Yes these are all OCs but they are other people's OCs. Yet one of them is mine and the artist did a wonderful and majestic job with it. I am only somewhat good and that is only with traditional old school pencil drawings. But even with that said the artist took these five OCs and created a one of a kind master piece. Well done. 4 stars.

Technique: Well everyone who knows me knows my opinion on digital art. Yes it looks good but there is less work then traditional. Sorry to those who'd argue with me yes I know some digital art takes hours to days but you have the advantage of the mighty Undo Button that us traditionalists don't get the privilege of. We just crumple up the paper and start over. That aside I promise my score in this area is not bias to the above mentioned fact. It is hard to master the originality of one person but five separate people and to still deliver this great of a piece. Great job. 4 stars.

Impact: Well lets just say wow is not enough to explain this image. It is wonderfully made and full of emotion. I love how each OC has their own take on the situation. Each with it's own facial expression and flare. They really help tell the story of five strangers coming together in one panel. I even love how Quill Pusher has Pinkie Pie arms that can stretch outside the range of the normal pony when need to.Some might call it a flaw but I call it amazing and very MLP of the artist. 4.5 stars
